Why Rope Access
A faster, lower-cost way to work at height
Rope access is a method of reaching difficult or high-level work positions using ropes, harnesses and specialist equipment, governed by the IRATA International Code of Practice. Technicians work on a two-rope system – a working line and an independent backup – with every operation planned, supervised and covered by a documented rescue plan.
It was developed in the North Sea in the 1980s precisely because scaffolding and conventional access weren’t practical offshore. Today it’s used across process plant, offshore structures, wind turbines, bridges, tanks and silos, high-rise buildings and heritage structures – anywhere access is difficult, disruption is costly or the structure won’t take a scaffold.
Rope access has one of the strongest safety records of any working-at-height method, largely because the discipline is heavily regulated: technicians are certified and logged, equipment is inspected on a fixed regime, and every team includes rescue capability on site.

Industrial Rope Access
IRATA Level 1, 2 and 3 technicians for complex work at height across industrial, offshore, marine and construction environments. Every team works under Level 3 supervision to the IRATA ICOP, with a documented rescue plan and on-site rescue capability for every scope.
Inspection & NDT Support
Close visual inspection, structural inspection and rope access support for NDT — including ultrasonic thickness testing, magnetic particle and dye penetrant inspection. We provide the access and the reporting; NDT technicians can be supplied or we work alongside your appointed inspection contractor.
Dropped Object (DROPS) Surveys
Systematic surveys identifying potential dropped objects at height - securing arrangements, fixings, redundant fittings, corroded fixtures and temporary equipment. Surveys are reported by zone with photographic evidence, risk rating and prioritised remedial actions, in line with DROPS best practice.
Industrial Cleaning & Coating
Facade, cladding, tank, vessel and structural cleaning, plus surface preparation and protective coating application at height. Suitable for live plant where a scaffold would be impractical or would interfere with ongoing operations.
Fabric Maintenance
Protective coating repair, sealant and gasket replacement, minor structural repair and general asset preservation at height - the ongoing maintenance work that keeps industrial and process structures across the UK in service between major campaigns.
Cladding, Roofing & Building Envelope
Installation, repair and replacement of cladding and roofing at height, including panel replacement, flashing, sealing and weatherproofing on industrial and commercial buildings - without the cost and programme impact of full scaffold.
Fall Arrest & Safety Netting Installation
Installation of fall-arrest systems, anchor points, safety netting and protection netting - including debris netting and bird netting on industrial structures. Systems installed by technicians who use them daily.
Decommissioning Support
Rope access support to decommissioning campaigns - pre-removal surveys, disconnection and preparation works, temporary securing, and access for cutting and dismantling teams on structures being taken out of service.
